Manager Erik ten Hag has stated that Manchester United will try their best to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which is set to take place on June 3.
United booked their spot in the final after a 7-6 penalty shootout victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley on Sunday.
Meanwhile, City qualified for the final 24 hours earlier, with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Sheffield United.
“I understand, of course, the feelings from the Man United fans about it,” Ten Hag said at his post-match press conference.
“We will do everything to give them that, to give them the second trophy, everything what I have, everything what the team have, everything the staff have, we will give everything to get that done.
“We can do it, because we proved it, but it’s not an easy job. It’s a great team, but we’ll also have a great team and great players and we can beat them.
“More than 100 per cent, you can’t do, so the fans can rely on that: we will give it and we will do it against every opponent, it doesn’t matter who it is.
“Of course, we want to give that against City. We want to give the fans that, sure.”
Ten Hag also spoke about dealing with players’ fatigue while pointing out the defeat against Sevilla on Thursday in the Europa League.
“It’s not easy. That can be part of the reason for Thursday, but it’s all in your mind. It’s all in your head,” he said.
“Today, we have seen that even when we are maybe not fully recovered from Thursday, we can bring the performance and even more, so it’s just about getting the right focus, getting the right energy, doing the right stuff.
“Have a good plan and go and be determined to win the games.”
Manchester United’s next match is against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Thursday, April 27. United are in fourth place on the table, meanwhile Spurs are one spot behind in fifth. However, United are six points ahead with two games in hand.
